Today, the traditional pre-event of the Tartu MTB Marathon, MTB Marathon Relay, was held between Otepää and Elva. This year a total of 26 teams with three members took part in it.
Teams covered 89 km. The first stage was from Otepää to Pringi (29.5 km), the second stage from Pringi to Palu (36.8 km) and third one from Palu to Elva (22.4 km).
After all three stages there was one team that was stronger than others – KoMo. Team members were: Peeter Tarvis, Gert Jõeäär and Vahur Valvas. The second best team was Team Antsla: Viljar Kannimäe, Taavi Kannimäe and Mihkel Kannimäe (+07.13). The third place went to the team Peloton I, consisting of Martin Laas, Ats Uulimaa and Mihkel Kalja (+11.28).
According to Gert Jõeäär, the rider of the winning team, their team was strong. "We all did our best. I was riding at my own pace and fortunately I made a good gap. Our third man, Vahur Valvas, had to keep our first place," Jõeäär explained.
