On Saturday, 7th of October the children's events of the 6th Tartu City Marathon will be held. It's starts will be given from the Vabaduse puiestee and the finish is on the Town Hall Square. Registration for the events is opened from Monday, October 2.
The first start of the children's event will be given on Saturday at 10am when the youngest running fans enter the track to prove themselves in the TILLUraces. The start for the MINImarathon will be given at 11.10am. In previous years children had the opportunity to choose between three distances, but this year there will be two distances: 450 and 900 meters.
According to the Club Tartu Marathon project manager Oliver Kivimäe, the reason for the change is partly due to the desire to give young people the chance to finish at the big arc located on the Town Hall Square. "Children will be able to finish the race on a red carpet equally with the runners of the main events. It gives young runners a chance to feel like really big athletes," he said.
This year's start for the children's events will be given from the Vabaduse puiestee, next to the Kaubamaja. The race runs through the park and continues in the direction of the Town Hall Square. Nearly 3000 children are expected to take part in the races.
The program of the children's events offers many exciting activities. Maanteeamet will share traffic safety tips. Lõunakeskus will be there with its trampolines and balloons. There will be also ice cream from Balbiino and children can do some handicraft in the Lastefond's tent. Dilmah will offer warm tea with Carmolis. In addition, Sportland's sales tent and the blue tent of the Club Tartu Marathon will offer the opportunity to buy some relics. Read more HERE.
