Charity Run collected 9529€ for the little 3 year old Cassandra

Program of the 34th Tartu Jooksumaraton begun today with an annual Charity Run which was ran for the first year on Friday evening in Tartu Tähtvere Recreational park. A total of 9529€ was collected in cooperation with Tartu University Hospital Children’s Foundation for a 3 year old Cassandra who is suffering with a very rear skin disease called epidermolysis bullosa.

„150 people more than last year and 1000€ more than before – just super!“ said representative of  Tartu University Hospital Children’s Foundation Küllike Saar. „I was especially happy about the fact that Charity Run which is run in cooperation with Tartu Jooksumaraton, is becoming a growing tradition. People want to do good!“

1314 runners and nordic walkers covered the 4,5km lap in Tartu Dendropark. The aim was not to be the fastest on course but to enjoy the beautiful warm and sunny spring weather. And to raise money for charity.

Registration for the Charity Run was free but every participant was asked to donate at least 1€ for charity. For every participant medical companies synLab, Sirowa, Nutri Kaubandus, Icosagen and Uus Apteek donated together additional 5€.

34th Tartu Jooksumaraton continues on Saturday with childrens’ events where 4000 children are excpected to take part.

Main races of Tartu Jooksumaraton will take place on Sunday. 23km and 10km races will be ran between Otepää and Elva.
