Tartu Rulluisumaraton, biggest inline skating event in the Baltics and Scandinavia, will celebrate its jubilee this year and will give an opportunity to earn a gold pin to all the participants who have taken part in the nine previous marathons. Those, who have completed five inline skating marathons, will receive the Tartu Marton’s silver pin.
67 skaters have finished all the nine marathons. How many of them will earn the first gold pin that is made specially for Tartu Rulluisumaraton, will become evident on the 21st of August, when the 10th Tartu Rulluisumaraton is going to take place.
Long-time marathons’ friend Sulev Kraam, who dresses himself in every Cube’s race in an animal costume, is part of the Rulluisumaraton’s history. We found out what inspires him to approach more creatively and instead of using sports clothes dress like an animal.
“When it is not possible to make it to the top finishers according to the results and just completing the marathon is not the goal anymore, I have to figure out something new to make the race harder for myself. But definitely the viewing audience on the sidewalks will cheer me on more and most importantly, it is more fun,” said Kraam. This year Kraam is going to greet all the competitors and the audience in a tiger costume.
Kraam has been motivated to compete every year, because he has an opportunity to be one of the few participants who has took part in all the previous Tartu’s inline skating marathons. There are more reasons why to be part of this sport event: to improve the result and to take part in all the Tartu Marathon Cube’s events.
