Over 800 skiers participated in Tartu Maraton’s pre-events

One of the oldest skiing marathon’s in the world, Tartu Maraton, will take place next Sunday. Today’s pre-events brought 803 people to the classical Otepää-Elva track.
In the Tartu Relay Marathon 40 teams, each consisting of 4 members, were in the starting corridor. The winner of today, a team called Laskesuusatajad (meaning „biathletes“ in Estonian) conquered the 63 km relay with a time of 2:38.47 and finished 7.08 ahead of Horeca Service. Third place went to Koidu Suusaklubi (2:51.05).
At the same time, the Open Track races (63, 31 and 16 km) also took place. A total of 443 skiers checked the marathon course before next week’s main races.

From 2017 to 2019 Tartu Maraton is also supported from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund. During the three-year period a foreign marketing project is implemented, including for example an international live webcast, inviting foreign journalists to the event and introducing Tartu Maraton at international ski-expos.
