Today, 27th of May a total of 3377 young cyclists took part in the 36th Tartu Rattaralli's events for children - TILLUraces and MINIrally.
The 36th Tartu Rattaralli distances are for children of all ages - TILLUraces with 500 meters and 1,1 km long distances for pre-school children and MINIrally with the distances of 5,2 and 7,6 km for a little bit older children. According to the preliminary results, a total of 1974 children took part in TILLUraces and 1403 in MINIrally.
Oliver Kivimäe, the project leader of Club Tartu Maraton said that today's cycling events in Tartu are quite special. "The day started with the Rattaralli's children's events and ends with the ride of professional riders in the Tartu Grand Prix. But the fact that so many children came to ride indicates that cycling is something that matters to people," he said. Kivimäe added that perhaps the future professional rider will come from today's children's events.
Today's children's races were the third stage of Tartu Maraton's Mini Cube's event series. The series will continue in August with the 11th Tartu Rulluisumaraton's children's events. No winners are declared in Tartu Maraton's Mini Cube's children’s events. However, all participants receive a medal, a diploma and a small prize bag. The events are free of charge.
Tomorrow, 28th of May the main races of Tartu Rattaralli will be held. 135 and 62 km distances in South-Estonia's scenic roads are planned for the program.
