Tartu City Marathon children’s event broke a record

The 4th Tartu City Marathon children’s races took place today, on October 3rd with a record number of participants - 3121. Of them, 2178 participated in TILLUrace (400 or 600 meters), 943 children participated in MINImarathon (943). Last year, the participant's number was 2641.

“This amount of participants is a pleasant surprise for us,” said Indrek Kelk, the race director of the 4th Tartu City Marathon. “Today showed that the Tartu City Marathon has a bright future - there were more participants in the children’s races than in the main distances. So, the children in Estonia are very active, one might say they are more active than their parents!”

With these participants numbers, the 4th Tartu City Marathon chidren event soon starts to catch up the Tartu Jooksumaraton children’s event held in spring, this year with a bit over 3900 children.

The 4th Tarty City Marathon children’s event was the last stage of the Tartu Maraton Mini Cube 2015 sports series held for children. To finish the series, children had to complete at least four events out from six. So, everyone who has finished at least four events this year, are welcome to a season ending party in Lõunakeskus on this Sunday.
