18th Tartu Rattamaraton broke records yet again
A total of 8577 riders took part in all of the 18th Tartu Rattamaraton events last week and with that Tartu Rattamaraton defended its title of the third biggest MTB marathon in the world. 8577 is also the new record for the number of total participants. Previous record from last year (8442) was broken with more than 100 people.
„Weather forecast didn’t looks so good entire weekend but it turned out excellent in the end and we had perfect weather on the day of the main rides. Because of bad weather forecast we probaly lost some people and the registrations in the last week were not so massive but dispite that we managed to set a new record,“ said race director Indrek Kelk.
„Number of participants have been growing in the Tartu Rattamaraton every year. This shows that Rattamaraton will soon be as big and as prestigious as our most famous event Tartu Maraton,“ added Kelk.
Main events took place on the 20th of September with a total of 4994 people finishing in the 89km and 40km distances. Day before that, races for children took place with 2884 children. And week before the main event we begun with official traning with 700 participants.
