On this Saturday, October 1st the 5th Tartu City Marathon children's races take place. This year, the finish-start area and the courses have new locations. The children's race center is now located behind the Tartu City Library, on Magistri street parking lot. The start will be given on Gildi street, near the Vabaduse street. The finish will be on Vabaduse street, right before the Town Hall Square.

Children can choose from three different courses: 400 meters, 600 meters and 1 kilometer. Everyone are welcome to participate. Participation is free of charge.
The new locations are implemented to improve the children's races space needs as well as the agenda: "Every year, the number of participants has grown and we want to provide more time for the children to go on the courses," said project manager of the 5th Tarty City Marathon children's races Kunnar Karu. "We are able to do it only when we have totally separate courses and race center for children, not touching the main Tartu City Marathon distances' courses. We still want to provide children a variety of the courses regarding their length and views over the symbols in Tartu."
Due to the new locations, there will be some more traffic restrictions from Friday night until the midday of Saturday in the heart of Tartu. But they will be short term.
Organizers recommend to come to the event if possible, on foot or on bicycle, or using the public transport or when coming by car, to use those parking lots a bit further away from the courses and race center and then walk to the start.
