Celebrating its 10th birthday, the Tartu Inline Skating Marathon received today a real gift - a record number of children and young skaters participated in the children’s races, there were 428 participants according to the preliminary results. 192 of them participated in the TILLUrace, 500 meters, 236 of them in MINImarathon, 3.4 kilometers.
“The growing number of participants in the children’s races makes us a lot of joy and gives us assurance,” said Indrek Kelk, the race director of the 10th Tartu Inline Skating Marathon. “Assurance that we are on the right track and that we will have many participants in the coming years as well. We are sure that in 10 years, the Tartu Inline Skating Marathon will be as big as any of our other sports events.”
Many children participated today first time in the event. For a 6-year-old Kaisa it was the second time on skates and she was pleased with her performance. “In the future, I want to participate in the skating competitions,” she said confidently.
All Club Tartu Maraton children’s races are free of charge, no winners are declared but all children receive a medal, a diploma and a bag of goods in the finish.
The 10th Tartu Inline Skating Marathon children’s races are part of the Tartu Marathon Mini Cube complex event and was the fourth event in the series. All children will complete the series once they have finished at least four events out of six during the season.
