While the children's races of the Tartu City Marathon are usually held on Saturday in the heart of Tartu, then this year, almost a thousand children had the opportunity to run in the Tähtvere Sports Park on Wednesday evening.

The change of location was made due to the fact that Tähtvere Sports Park is bigger and allows people to be scattered more than in the middle of Tartu city centre. However, the difficult situation did not upset sports fans and nearly a thousand children participated in the children's events. According to the preliminary data, 726 smaller runners took part in the TILLUraces, while 177 school-aged children took part in the MINImarathon. The final participant numbers will be given on October 11, when the children's virtual race ends.

Oliver Kivimäe, the project manager of the Club Tartu Marathon is satisfied with the organization of this autumn's events: „Both the events of the Tartu MTB marathon and Tartu City Marathon have shown that it is possible to organize sports events with a larger number of participants by following the rules."

The 9th Tartu City Marathon was the last competition of the children's sports series Mini Kuubik. All children who participated in at least three or four events of Club Tartu Marathon this year will receive a gift. Unfortunately, in the conditions of the spreading coronavirus, it is not possible to organize the event of the end of the season this year.

On October 2nd the Friday Night Run will take place. At 8 pm, Púr Múdd will start with a concert, and at 9 pm starts the official 4km run. More than 1000 runners are expected to come to the Tartu Town Hall Square this year. More information about Friday Night Run (including Track map) and registration HERE.
