On October 2nd an entertaining running event Friday Night Run took place for the fourth time. According to preliminary data, 1144 people took part in the event despite of the current complicated situation.
Friday Night Run 2020 started at 8 pm with a concert from the pop-electronic duo Púr Múdd, who also gave the start to the run at 9 pm.
This year's track was the same as in 2018. During the four kilometers, the runners passed several iconic and beautiful places in the heart of Tartu, the second biggest city in Estonia: the Town Hall Square and the Kissing Students, the main building of the University of Tartu, the Tartu Observatory, the Cathedral Hill, the The Gunpowder Cellar, the Devil's Bridge and the Angel’s Bridge.
Every year more than a thousand runners have taken part in the Friday Night Run. The record was set in 2019, when 1444 people enjoyed Friday night in Tartu, which by the way always shines in the evening darkness.
Of course, the precautionary rules and recommendations, which have already become quite elementary, were emphasized to the participants both before and during the event, so that the event could take place as responsibly and safely as possible.
The Tartu City Marathon’s programme consists of children's events which were held on Wednesday, Friday Night Run and the main races. The 9th Tartu City Marathon and also the 2020 season of the Tartu Marathon Cube’s will culminate on Saturday with 42, 21 and 10 km running and (Nordic) walking distances.
