The 23rd Tartu MTB Marathon children's event will take place in Tartu Tähtvere Sports Park on September 19th, but this year the TILLUrace or the MINImaraton can be completed virtually.
Due to the limit that allows 2000 people to participate in a sports event, several changes have been made in the children’s races. For example mass-start times are separated, so that there won’t be too many people in the same place at the same time. Children have to ride in two shifts, maximum is 1000 in one shift.
„We kindly ask that only one parent or adult comes to the event with a child (children). This minimizes the participant number in one shift,“ said Indrek Kelk, the chief organizer of the Tartu MTB Marathon.
Registration to the event has to be made online and the participation fee is 3 euros. "The participation fee and pre-registration are necessary, because this allows us to guarantee that the number of participants remains within the limit of 2000 people and we can ensure safety for all the attendees," explained Kelk.
"The virtual race for children, like for adults, starts on September 10th and lasts until September 20th. When choosing a virtual participation, child should ride a distance that is appropriate for his/her age and abilities. The minimum distance should be 400 m and for older children up to 5.1 km," said Kelk.
