According to the preliminary data, 1490 runners enjoyed the entertaining running event of Friday Night Run at the city center of Tartu.
The event got its start at 20 o'clock at the Tartu Town Hall Square with a concert of Estonian rapper Genka and DJ Paul Oja, who warmed the runners up despite of the cold weather. One hour later they also gave a start to the race.
In addition to the city center, this year's brand new track ran for the first time on the banks of the River Emajõgi and in Supilinn.
Friday Night Run was organized third time this year. A total of 1278 runners took part last year and 1170 runners in 2017.
Friday Night Run is also the opening event of the 8th Tartu City Marathon. The Tartu City Marathon will continue on Saturday with the main races (42, 21 and 10 km) and children's events. Altogether, approximately 7000 smaller and bigger runners are expected to come to Tartu on Saturday.
