FIVE TIMES IN A ROW! Kenyan Ibrahim Mukunga Wachira won the Tartu Forest Marathon

37th Tartu Forest Marathon, the biggest cross-country run in the Baltics, was held today in South-Estonia. In the main distance (24 km) Kenyan Ibrahim Mukunga Wachira triumphed for the fifth time in a row.
In total 1499 runners signed up for the 24 km run and walk. Quite in the last minute the five time champion Ibrahim Mukunga Wachira registered for the event. Like last year, he finished well ahead of the others with a time of 1:19.46. Raido Mitt (EST) finished second (+01.21) and Rauno Laumets (EST) third (+01.38). Among women Marion Tibar (EST, 1:33.51) won the event for the first time.
The fastest man in the 42 km run was Rauno Jallai (EST, 2:37.54) and the quickest woman Klarika Kuusk (EST, 03:15.41). Over 200 participants stood at the start line of the marathon distance.
In total 3545 runners and Nordic walkers registered for the 4 distances (42, 24 10 and 5 km) of Tartu Forest Marathon.
The next stage of Tartu Marathon's Cube series is the Tartu Rattaralli (Tartu Road Race). The biggest road cycling race in the Eastern Europe will be held on the 26th of May with distances of 124 and 56 km.
