One of the biggest running events in Estonia, the 7th Tartu City Marathon takes place on the 6th of October. As of today it is very possible that the event will have a new participant’s record.
Last year over 7600 runners and Nordic walkers took part in the events of Tartu City Marathon. The marathon weekend starts on Friday with Friday Night Run which this year is expected to attract about 1500 night runners to the start line.
On Saturday morning the always popular children’s events take place. A year ago 3014 little runners came to enjoy running on Tartu Town Hall Square. 3000 little runners is the goal for the event’s organizers this year too.
The main distances (42, 21 and 10 km) have already 3414 registered runners and walkers, which means that last year’s record 3488 is in a real danger.
Celebrating Estonia’s 100th anniversary, the marathon surprises runners with a new 42 km course. 21 and 10 km tracks stay the same as last year.
