The 21st Tartu MTB Marathon (or Tartu Rattamaraton), taking place in the middle of September, is expected to attract approximately 8000 cyclists to the beautiful courses in South-Estonia. The biggest MTB marathon in the Baltics is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.
MTB marathon’s main distances (89, 40 and 21 km) will take place between the small towns of Otepää and Elva on the 16th of September. Last year 4699 riders registered for these events, this year the organizers expect to surpass the 5000 participant number.
The events’ programme actually kicks off the week before, on the 9th of September with the Tartu Relay Marathon and the official training. Over 500 cyclists take part in the pre-events every year.
On the 15th of September one of the biggest children’s cycling events take place. Tartu Rattamaraton’s children’s events bring nearly 3000 children to the tracks in Tartu.
The 21st Tartu MTB Marathon is part of the Estonia 100 sports programme. During the centenary year, Baltic’s biggest MTB race is greater than ever. All people taking part in the race will receive a special edition medal, as well as start number and diplomas with the Estonia 100 design.
Tartu MTB Marathon is the penultimate event of the Tartu Maraton’s Cube series’ season. The last event of the series is the 7th Tartu City Marathon, which will be held on the 6th of October.
The year 2018 marks 100 years since the founding of the Republic of Estonia. Further information regarding centenary events can be found at www.EV100.ee.
