According to the preliminary data, a total of 2929 children ran in the children’s events of the 6th Tartu City Marathon on Saturday, 7th of October – 2007 in the TILLUrace’s 450 meters distance and 922 in the 900 meters distance of the MINImarathon.

Although rain was in the weather forecast for the events of the Tartu City Marathon, children’s happy faces flattered the sun out. As an innovation, young running enthusiasts got their start from the Vabaduse puiestee, next to the Kaubamaja. The race ran through the park and continued in the direction of the Town Hall Square where children finished on a red carpet equally with the runners of the main events.

According to Oliver Kivimäe, the project manager of the Club Tartu Marathon, the renewals of the distances and the tracks were justified. "We got to give the big starts nicely at the same time with the children's events, so organizationally was everything functioning. It is very likely that we are going to do everything the same way next year," said Kivimäe.

The 6th Tartu City Marathon’s children’s races were the final stage of the Tartu Marathon Mini Cube children’s sport series. All children who participated in at least four events out of six this year are welcome to participate in a season ending party on October 22nd.

Together with the children’s races, the main distances of 42, 21 and 10 km were run today.
