On the next Saturday, 19th of August the Tartu Inline Skating Sprint will take place for the seventh time. This year the event will have a new and attractive 100 metres distance.
The event will still have individual qualifying races. This way the skaters will get a seeding and will be paired up with other racers. For example the skater who wins the qualification will be paired up with the skater who finished 16th in the qualifying.
„100 metres sprint is a well known format among the skaters – it is also in the World Championships' programme. Last year the skaters were in the groups of four, but this year we decided to do the finals in pairs. This way the competition will also be more observable for the spectators,“ said race’s project manager Oliver Kivimäe. For the first time in the event’s history the popular sprint racers will also get a chance to go head to head against each other after the qualifying.
Tartu Inline Skating Sprint 2015 champion Marten Liiv said that the first metres of the race will be decisive. „I’ve never raced in such a short distance, but I think that the start will be extremely important, the way you get out of the blocks,“ he said.
The 7th Tartu Inline Skating Sprint will take place on the 19th of August, a day before the 11th Tartu Inline Skating Marathon’s races. Read more here: https://www.tartumaraton.ee/en/events/rulluisumaraton/11/sprint/
