Today, on May 6th, 3940 children, which is 300 more than last year, participated in the children's events of the 35th Tartu Jooksumaraton at the Tähtvere Sports Park.
In TILLUraces the number of participants was 2889. In MINImarathon a total of 1051 children took part in.
"It was great to see so many smiling faces rushing towards the finish line. Hopefully the increasing number of sports enthusiasts will find their way to our next events," said Oliver Kivimäe, the project leader of Club Tartu Maraton.
Children of any age are welcomed to participate in Tartu Maraton's Mini Cube events. Every finisher receives a medal, a diploma and a bag with goods. Participation is free of charge.
Today's children’s events were a warm-up for tomorrow's (May 7th) main races of the 35th Tartu Jooksumaraton, where 5 km, 10 km and 23 km distances can be run. After a long time, registration for the Jooksumaraton will be opened also on-site in the morning of the run.
As of today, including yesterday's number of the Charity Run's participants, which is a record of 2420 people, Jooksumaraton's weekend's first two days has brought together in total of 6360 people.
Tartu Maraton’s children events' next stage will be held in three weeks, on May 27th, during the 36th Tartu Rattaralli cycling events. TILLUraces' and MINImarathons' starts will be given in Tartu at the beginning of the Turu street.
