On the 35th Tartu Jooksumaraton in May, all the sport-lovers will have an opportunity to choose a shorter distance of 5 kilometers. The Rattamaraton's program, held in September, will also be renewed.
Race director Indrek Kelk said that this year the focus is more on the youngsters. "All young people who do not qualify for the children's events anymore due to the age and for whom 10 kilometers is too long distance are welcome to participate the 5 kilometer long run. We also thought about seniors and people who simply do not want to run the longer distance. So there will be something for everyone," said Kelk.
Kelk said that the new distances will be added to the other competitions as well. "September's Rattamaraton's program will be richer of 21 kilometer long race that could be suitable for those who do not want to ride the longer distance. Our main focus is currently on youngsters, so there might be a chance that Linnamaraton will also receive a new shorter distance," added Kelk.
The distance of 5 kilometers does not belong to the Tartu Maraton's Cube series, so points will not be given for accomplishing the run. However, the new 21 kilometer long distance in Rattamaraton is a part of the Cube series.
