Record-breaking 5th Tartu City Marathon reached 6000 participants

5th Tartu City Marathon ended Tartu Marathon Cube 2016 season on Saturday. Total of 6252 runners took part in the event. This is a new participation record for the event. Additionally the marathon course record was broken.
Biggest number of participants ran in the 10km distance where a total of 1927 people took part. 757 ran in the half-marathon and 542 in the marathon distance. So a total of 3226 people took part in the main events. 3026 children took part in the children’s events. This makes the total for the day – 6252.
5th Tartu City Marathon was won by Raivo Alla from Estonia who broke the course record by more than four minutes. New record time is 2:28.09. Second place went to Latvia, to Jevgenijs Turkins. Last years’ winner Rait Ratasepp (EST) was third.
Best female runner was Jana Treier who finished with a time of 3:07.47 on a demanding course. Margit Mälter was second and Sille Puhu third.
Half marathon was won by Indrek Tobreluts, former Estonian biathlete, with a time of 1:14.32. Dimitrit Aristov was second in the tactically ran race and Karel Viigipuu third. Fastest female runner was olympic athlete Ilona Marhele from Latvia.
10km race was won by Rauno Laumets (EST), best female runner was Latvian Jolanta Liepina.
Tartu Marathon Cube 2016 was won by Allar Soo. Best female was Sille Puhu. New Tartu Marathon Cube season will start at Februaruy 26, 2017 with the 44th Tartu Maraton.
