Organizers of the Ushuaia Loppet 2016 had to announce today that the event planned for the 13st of August will be cancelled because of total lack of snow.

Today the organizers had to cancel Ushuaia Loppet pre-events, scheduled to take place on current weekend.

Today it was already clear that there is no chance for the main events also because of absolutely no snow on the course and weather forecast predicts no significant amount of extra snow during the next week.

We planned to announce our final decision on Wednesday but there is no point in delaying. It is very clear for us – there is no chance to organize Ushuaia Loppet this year. We have absolutely no snow in Southern -  Argentina.

We have sent emails to registered informing the difficult situation. We expect confirmation of our National Federation and Worldloppet to communicate with each decision and inform the cancellation.

Ushuaia Loppet, what was supposed to be the first competition in the Worldloppet series, took place for the first time in 1986. Ushuaia Loppet has a membership with Worldloppet since 2014. Wordloppet is an international federation that organises cross-country skiing marathons. Tartu Maraton is a member of Wordloppet series since 1994.
