Up to 4200 children are expected to run on this Saturday in Tartu

On this Saturday, May 7th, the 34th Tartu Jooksumaraton children’s event takes place in Tartu, Tähtvere Sports Park. Children with different training and age are welcome to participate in 500, 800 meter and 2 kilometer distances. Participation is free of charge. Pre-registration online opened today, on May 2nd.

„Tartu Jooksumaraton children’s races are the largest among Tartu Maraton Mini Cube series in terms of the number of participants“, said Indrek Kelk, Race Director of the 34th Tartu Jooksumaraton. „Most probably sunny weather, great courses and wide option of distances are the reasons why so many children and youngsters come to our event at the beginning of May“.

Last year, in 2015, event welcomed 3843 participants, this year, organizers are ready to welcome up to 4200 children.

„In the last years we have worried a bit, if and how all those children can fit to Tähtvere Sports park. This year, we can say – there’s plenty of room! Charity Run, which previously took place on the same day with children’s event, now moved to one day earlier, to Friday. So Saturday is only for children this year“!

Charity Run, with 4.5 km distance, takes place in the evening on May 6th and is in cooperation with Tartu University Hospital’s Children Foundation. Everyone are welcome to participate and donate at least 1 euro.

On Sunday, May 8th, the largest cross-country running event in Baltics takes place. All runners and Nordic-Walking lovers are welcome to participate either in 10km or 23km long distances.
