4th Tartu Linnamaraton was won by Rait Ratasepp


Longest distance (42km) of the 4th Tartu Linnamaraton was won by Rait Ratasepp of Estonia with a time of 2:35.4. Tiidrek Nurme (EST) was the best in the half marathon with a new course record of 1:07.04.

„I was planning to aim the same time I have been runnin here in Tartu last couple of years,“ said Ratasepp. „First part of the course was easier, last part was harder but very interesting. It was good to run together with the Russian competitor for the last half“.

Russina Aleksandr Goriunov was second. He was running his first ever marathon. Goriunov managed to catch up with Ratasepp on the half way but couldn’t keep up with Ratasepp’s tempo in the end. Estonian is also known as a world class ultramarathon runner.

Hasso Paap of Estonia was third.

Best female runner in the 42km distance was Mari Boikov with a time of 2:56.05. Evelin Talts was second and Margit Mälter third.

Tiidrek Nurme ran a new course record in the half marathon with a time of 1:07.04 beating previous record with more than two and a half minutes. Raivo Alla was second and Anti Puustus was third. Viivi-Anne Soots was the fastest women. All of them from Estonia.

10km distance was won by Indrek Tobreluts (EST). Second was Karl Mäe (EST) and third Jevgeni Litvin (EST). Fastest women was Outi Hytönen from Finland.

4th Tartu City Marathon was also the last stage in the Tartu Marathon Cube which was won by Kert Keskpaik. Allar Soo was second and Sander Linnus third.

Total of 3145 people registered for the 4th Tartu City Marahton races.
