Over 2000 children will run in the heart of Tartu on Saturday
On this Saturday, October 4th, more than 2000 children are expected to participate in the 3rd Tartu City Marathon’s TILLUrace and MINImarathon.
Children’s races are taking place on the same day with the 3rd Tarty City Marathon’s main distances (42,2 and 21,1 km) and the Tartu City Run (10 km run and Nordic Walking). Last year, there were 2144 children who participated in the children’s races.
“It is quite noteworthy, how only with few years the event has become so popular,” said Marianne Võime, Club Tartu Maraton children’s races project manager. “Taking aside all other Club Tartu Maraton’s children’s events participants numbers, it is clear that Tartu City Marathon’s children’s events have found a way to very many children’s hearts.”
“First year, the number of participants was around 1600, second year already a bit over 2000. This year, we expect 2500 young running fans to the Tartu city center,” added Võime. “Sport is joy and the more joy we can offer to children, the better we, organizers, feel!”
The registration for the 3rd Tartu City Marathon’s TILLUraces and MINImarathons are open from today, September 29th on Club Tartu Maraton’s website.
The races are free of charge. Children can choose between three distances: 400 m, 600 m and 1 km. Start for the races will be given in Tartu Kaubamaja parking lot, on Uueturu street. The finish is on Tartu City Hall Square (Tartu Raekoja plats).
Every finisher will receive a medal, diploma and a small bag of goods. It is not a competition, every kid receives a bib with number 1.
