Children’s races of the SEB 8th Tartu Rulluisumaraton brought together 250 children

The SEB 8th Tartu Rulluisumaraton’s children’s races took place today, on August 23rd in Tartu, Estonia. There were two distances - for pre-school children there was a 500 meter course and for school children 3,4 km long course. Altogether 260 children took part.

“I love inline skating, because I’m strong in it,” said 7 years old Natali with a confidence. “It’s so cool to draft behind other skaters and catch them,” she added.

5 years old Relibet has participated in almost every Club Tartu Maraton’s children’s events since she was 2. “It’s fun! For children, doing sports is much better than hanging out in some shopping mall,” thought Relibet’s mother Meelike who came to today’s event with her both daughters. Meelike is sure these events help to enhance children’s sporting habits. “They insist on coming!” she added.

In addition to Tartu Rulluisumaraton (inline skating), children can participate throughout the year in many different events: Tartu Maraton (skiing), Tartu Rattaralli and Tartu Rattamaraton (cycling), Tartu Jooksumaraton and Tartu City Marathon (running). These events are not a competition, every child receives a bib with number one. Everyone receives a medal, a diploma and a bag of goods.

The 3rd Tartu Inline Skating Sprint was also held today. Tomorrow, on August 24th, the SEB 8th Tartu Rulluisumaraton’s main races will be held.
