Worldloppet season began in Argentina with a snowstorm


Ushuaia Loppet was ment to start on the morning of Saturday, 9th of August but had to be postponed 24 hours because of heavy snowstorm.

It's the first year that Ushuaia Loppet belongs to Worldloppet calender and this also attracted a record number of participants. A total of 52 skiers registered for the race held in the harsh Argentine winter - 38 for the 42km distance and 14 for the 21 km distance.

The race was won by Federico Cichero (2:30:04) from Argentina. 

The program of the International Nordic ski Month continues next Sunday August 17 at the Tierra Mayor Winter Resort only 20 km from Ushuaia where traditional Marchablanca will be held in classic technique.
