SEB Tartu Running Marathon sets new records

SEB Tartu Running Marathon was held on 13th of May 2012 and more people than last year crossed the finish line. In total 3613 people finished the main distances of the race this year, last year the number was 3350. A new record was set with children’s events also. Last year in total of 2568 children participated, this year the number of children who enjoyed children’s races in Elva, Otepää and Tartu is 2848.
First unofficial results state that in total there were 6763 people who took part in different SEB 30. Tartu Running Marathon events.
Chief of Secretariat of Club Tartu Maraton Aet Nurk says: „It is a pleasure that more and more people care about their health and set goals for themselves. It is good that we can be partners on one’s way towards achieving those goals.“
This year’s victory stayed home and for the winner Viljar Vallimäe it was the very first time to win the SEB Tartu Running marathon: „Tartu Running marathon is undoubtedly a very highly acknowledged race and every long distance runner would like to win it,“ states Vallimäe.
Those 6763 people who crossed the finish line drank 4000 bottles of Aura water, 4000 litres Powerbar sport drink, 2300 litres of Põltsamaa lemonade, 400 litres of Knorr bouillon, 3500 bottles of A. Le Coq lemonade and ate 3500 Premia ice-creams, 4600 plateful soup from Salvest, 300 kg bananas, 400 loafs of bread and 5500 raisinbuns.
SEB 30th Running Marathon was second stage of SEB Tartu Complex event 2012. Third stage will be held on the 27th of May when pro-riders and sport fans ride together in SEB 31. Tartu Rattaralli. First unofficial results show that in total of 1449 people have conquered both events of SEB Tartu Complex event 2012.
Next running event organized by Club Tartu Maraton will be held on the 6th of October when the very first Tartu City Marathon and after a long brake Tartu Autumn Run will be held.
