Rene Joergensen from Christina Watches - ONFONE won the SEB 31st Tartu Rattaralli
27.05.2012Estonian Cycling Weekend 2012 culminated today, on the 27th of May with the biggest road cycling race of the Baltic States - SEB 31. Tartu Rattaralli (137 km) which had more than 4000 registered riders.
Rene Joergensen (Christina Watches - ONFONE, DEN) was the first to cross the finish line. Second and third place went to Janek Tombak and Oskar Kargu (both Estonians). Unofficial results state that winning time of the race was 2:59:34.
The winner of the race, Rene Joergensen from Team Christina Watches says: “The race was difficult, but I made it. The team gave its best and we won! We will definitely come back next year to get even better results in Estonian Cycling Weekend!”
Janek Tombak, who got the second place, admits also the race being difficult: “It was not easy today and I gave my best, I have nothing to regret.”
The third place winner Oskar Kargu is pleased with the result: “Today, two guys were faster than me but I completed my goals.”
About 40 km before the finish top rider Rein Taaramäe (Cofidis, FRA) had to end his race due to a fall. “Estonian Cycling Weekend has never been easy to me and Estonian races are high level races, so it’s not simple,” comments Taaramäe the Estonian Cycling Weekend altogether.
Indrek Kelk, the Race Director of Estonian Cycling Weekend says: “Overall the weekend full of cycling went very well. I am glad that new teams like Team Europcar (FRA) and Tirol Cycling Team (AUT) Estonian Cycling Weekend preformed very well in Estonia.”
SEB 31. Tartu Rattaralli was the last race of the Estonian Cycling Weekend which started on the 25th of May with Tallinn Tartu Grand Prix 2012 (UCI 1.1) and continued on the 26th of May with SEB Tartu Grand Prix 2012 (UCI 1.1).
