About us

Club Tartu Maraton is a non-profit organization, which was established in 1991.
Its statutory goals are organizing of popular sport events and active participation in the operation and leadership of the organizations of respective sports both in Estonia and in the whole world.

As the organizer of country's most famous skiing event, Club Tartu Maraton is closely tied with the development of skiing in the whole Estonia. For this reason club was one of founders of Estoloppet in 1998 to unite Estonia's different skiing marathons to one series.

From 1999 to 2004, Club Tartu Maraton was also headquarters of the worldwide ski marathons' series Worldloppet.

Club Tartu Maraton's main aim is the organizing of SEB Tartu Complex Event consisting of Tartu Maraton (63 and 31 km cross country skiing marathon), Tartu Jooksumaraton (23 km and 10 km running and Nordic Walking race), Tartu Rattaralli (133 km and 69 km cycling road race) and Tartu Rattamaraton (89 km and 40 km mountain bike race).

The programs of main events also include races for children and elite athletes' competitions in Tartu, which are the tidbits for the spectators. Tartu Park Competition for elite skiers takes place prior to Tartu Marathon, Tartu MTB Sprint prior to Tartu Rattamaraton and Tartu Grand Prix prior to Tartu Rattaralli. The last one of them has grown into a UCI 1 category race for professional riders - the most impressive race in the Nordic region and Baltic States. On 2008 the first Tallinn-Tartu Grand Prix was organized.

All events have the shorter distances for persons who are no so well trained or had just started training or who's aim is not a sport result but active weekend in the nature with friends and family (Women's' ski race 16 km, Nordic walking 10 km etc).  In 2007 the first inline skating marathon Tartu Rulluisumaraton (36 and 15 km) took place.

The club is also involved in organizing many other events. Most famous of them are Saku Suverull - the summer top event for skiers, cross country skiing World Cup stages of and in 2004 also the European Road Championships in cycling for U23.

From 2003, the main sponsor of Club Tartu Maraton is AS SEB Pank, which is why the names of the events have changed into SEB Tartu Jooksumaraton, SEB Tartu Rattaralli, SEB Tartu Rattamaraton and SEB Tartu Grand Prix.
